คติพจน์ในปีหน้า ประธานโรตารีสากลรับเลือกได้ใช้ความคิดมากมายในการเลือกคติพจน์ที่เหมาะสม

คติพจน์ส่วนใหญ่กล่าวถึงตัวโรแทเรียน มีเพียงส่วนน้อยที่อธิบายถึงโรตารีให้แก่ผู้ที่ไม่ใช่โรแทเรียน
ให้เข้าใจ(Most of the themes speak only to Rotarians, but a few seek to explain Rotary to non-Rotarians)
โรแทเรียนทุกคนต้องพัฒนาสุนทรพจน์ที่ใช้ ซึ่งสามารถใช้ขายความคิดเกี่ยวกับโรตารีให้แก่ผู้ที่มิได้เป็นโรแทเรียนได้(All of Rotarians need to develop an speech in which we can sell the concept of Rotary to non-Rotarians)
ประธานโรตารีสากลรับเลือกเรย์ จึงตัดสินใจที่จะหาคติพจน์สั้น ๆ เพื่ออธิบายโรตารีแก่ผู้ที่มิได้เป็น
โรแทเรียน และสอง เพื่อยืนยันและรักษาความสำคัญของหลักการโรตารีแก่โรแทเรียน(Ray decided to search for a briefly stated theme to explain Rotary to non-Rotarians, and the second to confirm and validate the importance of our principle to Rotarians)
เรย์ ได้ทบทวนบริการ 4 แนวทาง(Ray reviewed the four Avenues of Service)
1.บริการสโมสร(Club Service)
2.บริการด้านอาชีพ(Vocational Service
3.บริการชุมชน(Community Service)
4.บริการต่างประเทศ(International Service)
- บริการสโมสรและบริการด้านอาชีพช่วยให้เรามีความสุขความเพลิดเพลินกับชีวิตและเป็นพลเมืองที่ดี
(Club Service and Vocational Service both help us to enjoy life and to be good citizens)
- บริการชุมชนและบริการด้านอาชีพรวมกันทำให้ชุมชนท้องถิ่นของเราเป็นที่น่าอยู่และน่าทำงานมากขึ้น
(Community Service and Vocational Service combine to make our local communities better places for us to live and work)
- บริการระหว่างประเทศช่วยให้เราจับคู่กับสโมสรในต่างประเทศและต่างทวีปเพื่อให้โลกน่าอยู่มากขึ้น
(International Service permits us to partner with clubs in other countries and on different continents to make the world a better place to live)
เป็นเรื่องสำคัญที่ต้องจำเอาไว้ คือ โรตารีเป็น จิตวิญญาณแห่งการบำเพ็ญประโยชน์(it is important to remember that Rotary is a “spirit of service”)
ถ้อยคำที่เลือกมาอธิบายถึงพันธกิจโรตารีในปัจจุบัน เน้นความสำคัญในผลสำเร็จ คือ สิ่งที่เราทำดีที่สุด(The words selected to describe Rotary’s current mission and to highlight our achievements are what we do best)
